BDD. Simply because we have the best district 9 out of 10 times in basketball. The same way the LPD has the best district 9 out of 10 times in football. Honaker will be a powerhouse this year but I beleive Haysi will be the surprise team. As for TV if thier basketball team is like thier football team, once you get them down they are going to cry, pout, and throw tantrums. There was zero disciplin in thier football team. I just hope thier basketball team isn't the same way.

BDD in basketball has to have the toughest district in the past few years haysi and council have pretty much dominated but this year it could be different but i think it still the BDD with honaker dominating the region...with the LPD following and CD 3rd

We are a long ways in the season and the BDD hasn't been doing to well agains the opposition. Honaker lost to Castlewood, TV lost to the Cove, but Council beat Powell Valley and Haysi beat the Cove. Geez this season is confusing!

It has been an up and down season all ready as far as comparing districts and schools Husker Fan. As far as ranking each district I would give the BDD the advantage for competitive balance throughout, then the LPD, and the CD has three decent teams, and then three horrible teams. But, when it comes tourny time I really believe it will be wide open. I believe the top teams of each district are fairly even, but the top teams of the LPD look better than that of the BDD right now. Honaker is failing to show why they made a run at state last year, and if they continue to play like this, they will get bounced from regionals in a hurry. If I had to pick the top two teams in each district to make regionals heres how I think it would break down:
BDD- Honaker,TV (The top two spots are gonna get real interesting by the end of the season)
LPD- Gate City,JI Burton (PV doesnt have the depth, but may knock Burton off, but I believe the Raiders are a more complete team than GC, or PV. GCs problem is that they have no pure shooter so a close game could hurt them, the positive is the deepest team around, and a houndind defense played by each player)
CD- Castlewood, Rye Cove (Cwood has proven they can play with anyone in the region, and the Eagles play as good a defense as any team, they just arent as deep as GC)

I think that the BDD has the best all around district and the regional champion could come out of there but LPD has a few good teams...but i think that Gate City probably will win the region just because of their physical play and team ball.
the CD has castlewood and did beat honkaer but they may be the real deal but i dont think i just think honaker had a bad game and castlewood was on that night but we will see when tourney time comes

When it's all said and done,
Gate City and Honaker should compete for the championship if they are in opposite brackets. As for who's best, the Black Diamond has three good teams, the LPD has two(PV is fading fast), and the Cumberland has two, maybe three. No doubt Gate City is the best defensive team around. With their depth I don't know if anybody can hang with them for four quarters. They do have a pure shooter in Nate Clark, the kid's tough especially considering his size. I'm not saying they'll win it but you'd better be able to handle pressure and be in shape. Honaker should be the favorite, but they haven't proven it so far.

I wouldn't be suprised if TV, Council or Haysi sneaks up on Honaker some time soon. They have had too many close calls.

i wish everyone would quit sayin that honaker just had a bad game the first game between castlewood and honaker. Castlewood won because they are a better team. The second game Castlewood got screwed worse than anyone has been screwed before Castlewood played good they just couldnt get a call there way. Honaker is the most overrated team in the state.
